Bilstein has established themselves as a leader in the suspension industry, and was founded in Altenvoerede (now Ennepetal) Germany in 1873 by August Bilstein. What first started out as a company that developed window fittings, Bilstein eventually started designing and manufacturing automotive components as early as 1919. In 1928, Bilstein gained a foothold in the automobile industry by supplying chrome-plated bumpers as well as car jacks. Now more than a century later, Bilstein has grown their company and resources to develop standard issued suspension components for many automobile manufacturers, and distributes a large catalog of suspension upgrades and direct replacements globally.
