Very Happy Customer

Upgraded my 2008 WRX. I have to say, I'm a very happy customer. I can tell that I've lost some low end power, but after 3000 rpms, it's no contest. Wish I had done it sooner.

Great spool up

I installed this to replace my VF40 turbo on my 05 outback XT... it was straight forward as expected. The change in wastegate orientation required some trimming of the heat shield. A quick retune due to differing turbo spool and a new boost control and up-pipe got me back up and running quick. I did some quick dyno pulls and was able to pull similar numbers at 10.5lbs of boost on the VF52 as when I ran 14lbs of boost on my VF40. I will turn it back up when I have more time to tune and get new injectors and fuel pump.

  • AnswerQ: Vf52 on a 2002 Subaru wrx  1flybugeye 3 months ago

What do I need to put this on my bugey . Is a different flange or an adapter flange or something? But please hel . Because I wanna put this bad boy on!

    • A: We are not aware of a way to install this turbo on an 02 WRX because it is a completely different style than stock, and there is not a way to connect an intercooler.

    • A: i would look more towards a vf39 for an easier upgrade

Is there anything I need to do besides bolt on and go with this?

    • A: This is an OEM replacement turbocharger and if your vehicle was originally equipped simply priming with oil is required. It is also recommended to clean any oil screen on banjo bolts if that has not been performed yet.

Will this fit on a 2006 Legacy GT? I've read reviews on the vf52 and it supposed to be a direct bolt on for the Legacy GT, but on rallysport it says it does not fit....?

    • A: We can only confirm fitment for what the manufacturer lists the part for and could not guarantee fitment on a Legacy GT, although the turbocharger configuration is similar to the WRX models.

Will I need to purchase new injectors and/or a new fuel pump if I were to install this?

    • A: The stock injectors and fuel pump will be sufficient for this turbo on a 2008 WRX.

would this bolt right into a WRX?

    • A: This would bolt up to a 14 WRX however, you would still need a new tune.

    • A: your 2014 wrx already comes with this turbo i believe, no need to waste money on a tune if it comes with the car from factory and you are stock.
