The SP line of GReddy Exhaust systems has set the benchmark for bolt-on, Street Performance: with style, sound, fitment, power and quality since 1994. The SP Elite, is GReddy’s latest version of this full stainless-steel legacy. Similar in style to the Spectrum Elite line, the SP Elite uses a larger high flow piping, straight-through oval muffler(s) and resonated angled tip(s) for a sporty, yet refine exhaust note. However the SP Elite, has a more standard finished polished tip, stamp strengthen end caps and un-embossed muffler body, resulting in more affordable, more subtle, Sport Performance Exhaust.

After reading many positive reviews on this exhaust I decided to purchase it because I wanted a quieter exhaust than the SPT and Cobb catbacks that I have tried so far. I was extremely disappointed in the fitment of this exhaust. The driver's side tip sticks out much further than the passenger's and the entire exhaust sits further to the passenger side of the car and is slightly uneven. No amount of adjusting the flanges and hangers would correct this. I think I just received a poorly made piece because I've seen pictures of others with this exhaust and they did not suffer these flaws. A couple of clues to a defective piece was the dent on the top of one of the tips (not visible when installed) and one of the hanger rods was bent so close to one of the tips it was impossible to get a hanger on it without straightening it. It was literally touching the exhaust tip. I was however satisfied with the sound. After a week I decided to take it off and put my SPT catback on again. Of the three catbacks I've tried, the SPT fits the best which makes sense. The Cobb is also a fantastic piece. The only con to it was that the driver's side tip also stuck out slightly more than the passenger's, but was barely noticeable. Sound wise they all three are very close. The Greddy is almost silent at idle, whereas the Cobb is slightly more noticeable. The SPT is much louder than the other two at idle through the 1,500 RPM range, then sounds the same. If I could do it over again I would have just kept the SPT catback on, which came with the car and never bought the other two catbacks.

    What’s the difference between this SP Elite and the SE one, other than the tips?

    • A: The only difference I am aware of is the tips, other than that they should be the same.

    Do you need to tune it for this exhaust system? you only need to tune it if you get downpipes right? Thanks

    • A: No tune would be required for just the catback. However if you add a downpine that is when you need to tune the vehicle.
