The simple fact is the oils in your car work best when they are uncontaminated. Continuous friction of moving parts creates tiny metal particles that are measured in microns. A micron is one millionth of a meter. 25 microns is .001”… yeah, one thousands of an inch. Oil filters can remove particles larger than 35 microns, but what happens to the rest? They get circulated back thru your engine wearing down your parts even more.

That is where Dimple comes in. Their magnets are the strongest high temperature grade neodymium magnets in the world. They simply rip those smaller particles out of the oil stream. Regular neodymium magnets start to lose their magnetism at 175f but Dimple’s have been proven to hold their magnetism at well over 300f.

A couple of years ago Subaru began using a new size engine drain plug on the above models from an M20 to the smaller M16X1.5X12. If the wrench required to take off the plug is 14mm then your car needs the M16 plug.

This size also fits the transmission oil pan on the 2004-2007 STI.

These magnetic drain plugs and filter magnets are very powerful. I am impressed with the strength of the magnets and the quality of the product. They came with a crush ring (if needed) and fit like a dream. Great for anyone looking to keep that drivetrain fresh and clean for as long as possible.

I purchased all five Dimple plugs for my BRZ Limited 6MT- after taking a deep breath at the cost for one plug for the engine oil pan, two plugs for the 6MT and two plugs for the rear end. Superb quality and fitment. Car drives faster than ever before--after oil change at 1500 miles following 4000 rpm (plus a little) upper limit break-in period. ;-) Think of the plugs as a good rubber for the road.

Do I need to replace the crush washer at each oil change? if not how many oil changes will that crush washer last?

    • A: It is recommended that you replace the crush washer every time the drain plug is removed.
