Lap Battle Round 3
August 16th 2008 marks the 3rd and final round of the Lap Battle Time Attack Series for 2008. It was definitely a much nicer day then Round 2 that took place on July 26th, which will definitely help the racers out on the less-forgiving east track of the Miller Motorsports Park. For those who have not raced out on the east track yet, it is more technical and not as fast as the west side of things. Driving requires a little more thought and lines will need to be attacked with more precision, otherwise you may end up playing in the dirt.
The day began with an early drivers meet at 8:30 in the morning. Each of the 2 run groups ran two, half-hour sessions before lunch and one more after, in preparation for the final round. The round which would determine who is the fastest in either the AWD, FWD, or RWD class.
The day concluded around 6 in the evening where the winners would be announced in the club house. Joe Sim took first in RWD class with the fastest time of 1:39.228 driving the Turbo Lab NSX. Ben Mertlich, winner of AWD class, put down the fastest time of 1:46.994 in his Evo. Kris McCoy secured first in FWD class with a Civic, with the time of 1:49.71.
