The GrimmSpeed Uppipe is hands down one of the best uppipes on the market. This particular uppipe has larger diameter piping which allows fewer restrictions, and increased spool time.

Other features include a sleek black ceramic coated finish to help deflect heat, and decrease engine bay temperatures. The pipe itself is fabricated out of 304 SS, and has a pipe-wall thickness of 2.0mm. The inlet size is 1.93 inches, and the outlet size is 1.72 inches. This makes for a smooth transition and best air flow quality out of the turbo. Finally a flex joint is added to ensure a life expectancy out of this uppipe.

Included is the uppipe, 5 studs, and 2 nuts with bolts. Also included are the gaskets necessary for the installation.

Please read if you are thinking of getting this uppipe

I got this and installed it about 2 weeks ago. Its a must buy!! It give turbo spool about 500 rpm sooner in the cold and about 350 rpm sooner in warm weather. Made my car a little louder and it sounds fantastic! If you are reading this and thinking about getting it just hit buy!!! The black powder coating make it so you don't have to heat wrap it. Also some people say you have to jack up the motor to get the stock up pipe out. You do not need to at all. my stock pipe came out with just a little wiggle.

great initial quality

The quality of this piece seems really good. The welds all look nice and the fact that is comes with all the nuts bolts and gaskets is awesome. Give yourself 5 or so hours to put this on. The hardest part of the whole install was getting the old up pipe off. Once removed, this new Grimmspeed up pipe installs perfectly and smoothly. It has been on my car for about 2 months and I have noticed almost instant spool up. This my first Grimmspeed product, but if I need another part it will come from this company.

Overall I am very satisfied with this product. However it does make a weird exhaust flow noise when decelerating with all the windows up.

Solid upgrade!
NIC08899 9 months ago
I'm rolling a 2012 WRX hatch. Had the Cobb SF intake, Perrin TMIC, Cobb Crank Pulley, Cobb down pipe and SPT cat back with a Stage 2 flash.. I added the Perrin turbo inlet, Grimspeed Crosspipe, and Grimspeed up-pipe simultaneously. The car was fast before, but the last upgrade smoothed out everypart of the driving experience. The car is my faster off the line, spools up much quicker. I believe I made solid power gains, but don't have any dyno data to prove it. The bottom line is I've now got great airflow from the intake all the way through the motor, the thing is just balanced. I replaced all of my exhaust gaskets including my manifold gaskets during this instal, I noticed better ehaust tone and as mentioned before, when in combo with a turbo inlet the spool up is much quicker. I also wrapped the cross pipe and up-pipe with titanium heat wrap, and added a ptp lava turbo blanket. Next up will be upgrading the radiator and hoses to protect the turbo after hard driving, then a port and polish. Bottom line: for older dubs with a cattup-pipe, this is often recommended as the first upgrade. For newer dubs, I'd say hold off until you've gone stage 2 and are ready to commit to a Crosspipe as well.

  • AnswerQ: Different up-pipes.  StarryBoar 7 days ago

So I am looking to install the Tomei Expreme Un-equal headers and from what I see this up-pipe is not compatible. Am I correct in assuming that? Thank you.

    • A: Tomei's header will include a specially designed up pipe for their header. This will not work with Tomei's up pipe, as theirs is designed with a 3 bolt flange.

  • AnswerQ: Tune  subytech niagara 2 months ago

Hi im intreseted in purchasing this uppipe for my 04 sti with a stage 2 cobb tune and cobb down pipe. Will I need a new map to run this pipe? Does it require a tune?

    • A: An uppipe typically will not require a tune, but you may benefit slightly from one.

  • AnswerQ: From the turbo?  john.frey170546 2 months ago

Am I high, or does an uppipe go from the manifold collector TO the turbo? According to the description: "This makes for a smooth transition and best air flow quality out of the turbo" I was under the impression that the only exhaust flowing "out of the turbo" went out the downpipe? I'm guessing that the different (and seemingly oddly specific) internal diameters are designed to create smooth transitions from the stock (but possibly ported) manifold, and to the (stock) turbo inlet?

    • A: The uppipe goes from the manifold to the turbocharger. The pipe aft the turbocharger is the downpipe. Internal diameters of exhaust increase volume and flow which can help reduce spool times and be more responsive, but on a stock manifold it will be very minimal. The primary use for aftermarket uppipes is a simple way to install an external wastegate or to get rid of the catalytic converter which Subaru installed in many early model 2002-2005 Subarus.

  • AnswerQ: Heat Wrap  Jives101 4 months ago

If one wanted to heat wrap this uppipe, would you wrap over the flex joint or stop the wrap in front of the flex joint?

    • A: Typically with a coating, adding heat wrap is not necessary. But, in the case where you decide to wrap it I personally would recommend avoiding the flex joint and leaving it unwrapped.

  • AnswerQ: do i need to wrap it  TheStiGuy 8 months ago

so I'm deciding between this gs up pipe or the non coated one so my question is. Does the ceramic coated up pipe have to be wrapped or does the coating act as like a wrap. thanks

    • A: The coating helps to insulate and will not require a wrap.
