The COBB Tuning SF Intake utilizes their custom design to maintain optimal flow and net the ideal performance while remaining unedited from the factory velocity stack. The custom conical cloth filter feeds filtered air directly to the engine, while maintaining optimal intake velocity and minimizing turbulence found with many aftermarket intake systems. The COBB Tuning SF Intake system is compatible with Stage 1 and Stage 2 OTS (off the shelf mapping) provided for their AccessPORT ecu tuning device.

This system utilizes several unique features in an effort to maintain optimal flow for performance while minimizing turbulence that can cause engine management problems. From a custom conical cloth air-filter element, COBB uses a CFD-designed velocity stack leading to an unique air flow straightener grid. This straightener grid is specifically designed to smooth the incoming air flow as it passes the Mass Air Flow sensor for precise readings. This eliminates the "dead spots" experienced by other aftermarket intakes due to turbulence. NO other aftermarket Subaru intake system utilizes these critical design elements.

In order to provide a system that looks as good on the outside as the technical advancements happening on the inside, COBB utilizes a one piece design constructed from a high temperature plastic composite. Not only does this save weight compared to the previous metal design, the plastic composite material offers much better heat rejection properties that help keep intake air temperatures cooler. In contrast, intake systems constructed using metal castings or piping can actually retain underhood heat and in turn heat the incoming air.

Cobb sf short ram intake
G. Floyd 1 month ago
This is a great short ram intake, especially with the cobb airbox. The intake was very easy to install and works great with a stage 1 tune. The only con to this intake is that while you do hear much more turbo spool and bov noise, you don't really hear the actual engine itself. It honestly sounds like the stock intake until you get on the throttle and start to push boost. In short, the ONLY difference i've noticed is hearing the turbo spool at wot, and this is in a 2005 WRX STi. It still is a great intake though, and i trust cobb products!

Sounds beautiful

There is a few reasons I give the Cobb sf intake 4 stars. 1 I feel like it is dumb not just including the post maf hose or creating a package for the sf intake with the hose for just below 200. 2nd I can't prove or tell how much the intake itself adds power wise because I installed it with the accessport with a stage 1 tune. But boy does this thing sound amazing compared to the stock box! You can here the turbo spool and the waste gate go off and I must say it's a blast. I have no regrets getting this intake.

Nice spool sound and better performance!

I would have given this item 5 starts but it feels a little cheap in the hand but dose pretty good on the car I would definitely recommend this if you want to go stage 1

Easy install. Great sound

It took me all of thirty minutes to install this with the cobb post maf hose. I fired it up and it gives a nice wine when I get on the throttle.. I felt a little more throttle response and it looks great in the bay. A++

  • AnswerQ: Can i just install this  Tyler.clementich75243 5 months ago

I see all this talk about a post MAF hose. So will i need to order another part to get this to work properly or can i just install it and go. And can i buy the air box at a later date? Thank you

    • A: Many people like to upgrade the MAF hose while installing the intake as they are already under the hood. It is not required and your factory MAF hose will function just fine with this intake.

  • AnswerQ: Cobb Intake  STI_Fanatic 7 months ago

Okay so I installed this to my 03 WRX about 2 months ago, and the blue on the filter went away and actually turned white/grey. What does this mean?

    • A: The blue comes from the oil COBB uses on their intake's. The paper element of the filter is actually the white/grey color and if there is no more blue, this will indicate that the filter needs to be re-oiled. You can purchase the SF Cleaning kit from us! Search part # COB 700200B

  • AnswerQ: 20g  jesser 7 months ago

What is the size of this intake. Is this the same like the 70mm Cobb intake? Will this work with 06 sti, 20g turbo on methanol?

    • A: This intake is stock size, which is 70mm OD, and it will work well with a 20G on a 06 STI.

  • AnswerQ: No box, no tune  mikenice113445330 10 months ago

would I be fine with no air box and no tune?

    • A: The air box is optional but it is highly recommended that you tune your car with this intake to avoid potential damage.

  • AnswerQ: im a noob :(  genjackoneil 1 year ago

Hello! i bought a 05 WRX sedan last year from california. ( i drove it back home here to Montana ) Its in really good condition, completely stock. Ive had the car a year now, really happy with it, and am really anxious to get to modding the car. But im not entirely sure where to start. I figured this might be the best point to start. i thought installing this Cobb Sort ram intake + Cobb MAF Silicone Hose might be a good start. Since i live in a Hot/Cold/Dusty environment, would getting the box for this be a good idea? Any other recommendations? Or other additional parts i would need? As i said before this is my first mod so i dont really have alot of knowledge on this subject. Also i checked to see where the nearest place i could get a tune done here. its 350 miles away. so if i need to get it tuned i would rather save time and money and get all my mods done at the same time. ( if necessary ) Sorry for the long post, And thanks for any answers or help i can get!

    • A: Hello! I do recommend getting the air box, but it is not required. I also recommend getting the Cobb AccessPort to tune your car. This will allow you to flash the proper map on your car and drive, so you can avoid driving 350+ miles to get a tune from a shop.
